Amplify Mission is pleased to support Wesley Acres in their search for an Executive Director, based at their head office in Bloomfield, Ontario.

Wesley Acres is seeking an Executive Director (ED) to lead our organization during an exciting and pivotal period, following our 50th anniversary celebration. This role is central to driving our strategic vision and operational execution over the next decade. The ideal candidate will bring management skills, preferably in the nonprofit sector, a collaborative mindset, and a strong commitment to our Christian values. About the Role 

The ED at Wesley Acres serves as the chief visionary, responsible for steering the organization towards a successful future by ensuring that a strategic plan is developed and implemented through a collaborative process. This role requires a servant-hearted leader who is passionate about Christ-centered ministry and discipleship and has the capability to inspire and engage stakeholders, while upholding the highest standards of integrity and transparency.

Accountable to the Wesley Acres Board, the ED provides strategic leadership to Wesley Acres Inc. (WAI) a not-for-profit ministry, and Wesley Acres Trailer Park Inc., a for-profit corporation owned by WAI. The ED also provides oversight to the Senior Leadership Team.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic & Ministry Leadership: Provides visionary leadership, collaborating with the board and other stakeholders to develop and operationalize our strategic plan.  This involves aligning initiatives with our mission and serving the spiritual needs of our multi-generational community. 

  • People & Culture Leadership: Cultivates a thriving organizational culture that embodies Wesley Acres' Christian values, establishing consistent engagement with staff and volunteers to promote a sense of shared purpose and direction.

  • Fund Development & Advancement: Steers the advancement of Wesley Acres through strategic fund development initiatives and active engagement with our stakeholders. Responsibilities include providing vision for major development efforts, nurturing relationships with donors, representing Wesley Acres in external forums to enhance community impact, and developing partnerships that align with our mission.

  • Financial Stewardship: Ensures effective financial stewardship and organizational sustainability by overseeing major capital projects, managing the annual budget in collaboration with the finance team, and providing accurate financial reports to the board. This role is crucial for the long-term stewardship and development of Wesley Acres' property and assets.

  • Operational Functions: The ED steps in as needed to lead and manage key operational activities to ensure continuity and stability for the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

These are the essential criteria that candidates must meet to be considered for the position:

  • Personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a desire to grow as a follower, and evidence of a growing relationship with God.

  • Background in managing a ministry-focused organization; experience in a Christian camping environment or similar is a strong asset.

  • Knowledge of legal frameworks for charitable operations in Ontario.

  • Extensive experience working with a board and proven ability to work collaboratively with and under the direction of a Board of Directors.

  • Demonstrates a keen awareness of ministry trends and developments as well as the ability to discern and lead future directions for the organization.

  • Ability to lead and inspire teams towards a shared vision, cultivating a culture that is true to the organization’s Christian foundation.

  • Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining strong relationships with donors; strong story-telling skills to garner long-term support for the organization’s mission.

  • Proven decisive leadership skills, strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience in the development and execution of strategic plans.

  • Business acumen, particularly in the area of budget development and fiscal oversight to ensure financial sustainability for the organization.

  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and donor relations, and a track record of designing and executing development strategies that have significantly strengthened organizational financial health. 

  • Proven ability to remain resilient and adaptable in a dynamic environment, balancing short-term and seasonal objectives with long-term strategic goals.

  • Experience in developing a Master Plan for building projects and asset development.

  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). 

 

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

The following qualifications would also be highly desirable:

  • Proven ability to tactfully deal with differences of opinions and competing demands, as well as conflict resolution skills.

  • Competence in identifying potential risks to the organization—financial, reputational, operational—and developing strategies to mitigate these risks.

  • Working knowledge of property/facilities management, building construction, operations and building maintenance.

About Wesley Acres

Wesley Acres (WA) is a Christian retreat centre and campground that provides the  opportunity for spiritual growth, social connection, and physical recreation in a Christ-centered community. It is located in the heart of Prince Edward County just outside of Bloomfield, Ontario. Surrounded by water, Wesley Acres is a 250-acre property with 5 kilometres of shoreline that sits on the beautiful shores of West Lake overlooking the Sandbanks Provincial Park.  It features a trailer park, meeting facilities, playground, boat launch and an overnight children and youth campus called Harbour Ridge. 

Wesley Acres is affiliated with the Free Methodist Church in Canada and is a charitable organization.
